Psychological Script Consulting
Is it your plotline with the mental health issuE?
Beginning with her predoctoral clinical internship many years ago, where she served as the psychological consultant to a renowned university musical theater program, Dr. Bonior has long enjoyed collaborating with those in the arts and entertainment spaces to support their work. She views artistic expression as a fundamental pillar of a healthy society that helps bring meaning, growth, and insight into people’s lives.
In her consulting work, Dr. Bonior advises writers in creating stories that accurately reflect mental health diagnoses and treatment, across a variety of mediums, including television, theater, books, and film.
She has critiqued scripts, suggested storyline ideas, and provided scientific context and background expertise to a variety of individuals and organizations, from first-time novelists to established production teams.
No stranger to the arts world personally, Dr. Bonior is a musician who attended an arts magnet school for high school (the Governor’s School for the Arts in Norfolk, VA) and she counts many in the creative fields among her lifelong friends. Having long understood the unique demands of performing artists, she is also passionate about the portrayal of mental health issues within entertainment and the media.
Her thoughtful, creative, and supportive approach— combined with her decades of clinical expertise— have helped many writers avoid the numerous potential pitfalls of tackling mental health plotlines within their work. From a brief discussion of whether a therapy portrayal is realistic to a long-term collaboration on the character development of someone with bipolar disorder, she is flexible and meets the writer where their needs are. She is available on an hourly basis to support a wide range of projects, and would love to work with you. Contact her today to talk details.
